Granny admitted at Nyeri hospital after alleged rape

The granny was allegedly defiled after an unidentified person gained entry into her mud house by digging a hole through the wall. The Gender-based Violence Unit at the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital took up the case on Friday after it was reported in the media. An 80-year-old granny from Ngandu, Nyeri County who was allegedly raped at her home in Githima village has been admitted at the Nyeri Provincial General Hospital. The hospital unit, which was launched by Governor Nderitu Gachagua in July this year, was set up to help victims of gender violence with counselling and treatment. The director of the Purity Elderly Care Foundation Ms Joyce Wanjiku took the granny to the hospital, and said she had been admitted and put on a drip as she was too frail.“She is in hospital where she was put on a drip.
