Warriors slay poor bankers
Men and women’s basketball Premier League champions Co-operative Bank and Eagle Wings had mixed luck in their crucial first leg matches at the Nairobi’s Nyayo National Stadium at the weekend. Eagle Wings, who are seeking to win the women’s crown for the third time in a row, maintained their unbeaten run when they beat Sprite Storms 65-43 while men’s defending champions Co-op Bank lost their second match 51-47 to Ulinzi Warriors. Eagle Wings, still fresh from their 67-41 victory over Co-op Bank, led Sprite Storms in the first three quarters to claim two points.
Eagle Wings on Sunday raced to a 35-20 lead followed by 17-10 run in the third quarter with 18 points from international Silalei Shani and another 15 from team-mate Samba Mjomba.
