Malawi, Angola seek redemption
Malawi and Angola will be seeking redemption when they face each other in the first plate semi-final of the Cosafa Cup football tournament, set to be staged on Tuesday evening at the Arthur Davies Stadium in Kitwe from 4pm, Kenyan time. The match will pave way for the second semi-final duel in the plate category, in which Namibia will take on Mozambique at the same venue. This is the first time the tournament organizers are introducing a plate competition at the Cosafa Cup, a scenario that seen a collection of teams eliminated from the Main Cup tournament competing in another event of a ‘lesser magnitude’.
Kenya, who were invited to this tournament, narrowly missed out on this second-tier competition after failing to qualify for the quarter-finals from group ‘B’. Malawi and Angola were unlucky to lose out to Zimbabwe and Lesotho respectively on post-match penalties in the main Cup and both teams have not set their sights on clinching the plate competition....
