Kenya's Wanyama closer to Premiership deal
Harambee Stars midfielder Victor Wanyama could become the first East African to ply his trade in the English Premiership as he nears a move to Southampton FC. Scottish daily record reports that the Kenyan international will complete the move to the Saints in the next 48 hours in a 12.5 million deal that is set break the Scottish transfer record. If the deal materializes, it blows away the previous transfer record of £11m that Spartak Moscow paid Celtic for Aiden McGeady in the summer of 2010.
The former Nairobi City Stars player is highly regarded as one of the best defensive midfielders in Europe at the moment and his capture will no doubt galvanize Mauricio Pochettino’s side ahead of the new season.
