Waiguru assures civil servants on pay
NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 4 – The government has assured civil servants that it is committed to regularising the disparity between the lowest cadre wage and the minimum wage. Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru said that the government will also review the hardship and house allowances as proposed by the Union of Kenya Civil Servants. The union had last week issued a seven-day strike notice unless the government met their allowances demands.
Waiguru however urged caution over the multiple wage demands being placed on the government from the different sectors, pointing to their effect on the overall development of a recovering economy. She called on the union to support the reforms envisioned for the public service that would ensure efficient and effective service delivery to Kenyans....
