Muturi tells CMD to push for parties’ funding quota
NAIROBI, Kenya, Jul 30 – The Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi on Tuesday asked the Centre for Multiparty Democracy to ensure that the government delivers on its promise of political party funding in the budget. Muturi said the funds will go a long way to assist political parties support their members and conduct their business effectively. He added that CMD should work with the Parliamentary Committee on Justice and Legal Affairs to ensure that the challenges observed within political parties during the March 4 elections are solved immediately.
Magara on his part asked the government to amend the Political Parties Act to cater to all political parties. He promised to work with the government as they work towards moulding a democratic Kenya, saying that order needs to be brought to political parties by creating policies that will guide the members....
