15 immigration officers sacked over Westgate
NAIROBI, Kenya, Oct 25 – The government has now fired 15 senior and mid-level immigration officers following the Westgate terror attack. Cabinet Secretary for Interior and Co-ordination of National Government Joseph ole Lenku says the officers were involved in the issuance of Kenyan documents to illegal immigrants. Addressing journalist at Harambee House on Friday, Lenku said the action by the officers could endanger the security of the country.
In a bid to improve its efficiency, he said that 17 senior and experienced administration officers have been re-deployed to the department of immigration to help streamline its activities. Lenku also said the government will carry out an audit of ID cards and passports issued in the country in the last two years....
