Zambia court orders release of ex- president Banda's passport
Former Zambian President Rupiah Banda with his wife Thandiwe after accepting his September 2011 election loss to successor-turned-tormentor Michael Sata. A Lusaka High Court late Thursday ordered the release of Zambia former president Rupiah Banda's passport to allow him to travel to neighbouring Tanzania. Mr Banda,76,is due to travel for a four day trip to Tanzania to attend the 2013-Global Smart Partnership Dialogue.
Lusaka High Court Judge Annie Bobo Banda ordered the release in a ruling delivered late Thursday and said that pursuant to the evidence before her she was not struck that the former president is a flight risk.
